On Sunday 13th October 2024 Paul Lomax attempted and passed to the rank of 6th Dan (Rokudan) 

It was great to see all pass there Dan gradinings on Sunday 10th December, including our own Mimi from the club who passed to 2nd Dan. We are very proud of what you have atchived, well done Mimi.

We also had the Club grading on the 16th December and a big well done to those that pased to their next grad, keep up the good work

Congratulations to Sally, Yas, Ethan and Akash for passing the Dan Gradings on Sunday 15th December 2019, a great achievement.  We are very proud instructors and coaches, thank you for all your hard work.

At this year’s SSU Christmas Party held in Wales on the 7^th December 2019, Paul Lomax - 5th Dan (Along with other Senior Dan Grades in the SSU) were awarded the title of Renshi by Sensei Denis CASEY (8^th Dan UK) & Sensei Tsutomu KAMOHARA (9^th Dan JAPAN).  Renshi literally means “polished teacher.” It is the first of the shogo titles. In many martial art organizations this requires a minimum rank of godan (5th degree black belt), to be awarded this title, and to be a recognised as a qualified teacher of martial arts. Paul says it was an amazing surprise and an honour to receive this title.

On Tuesday 20th March 2018, Paul Lomax achived the grading of 5th Dan in Japan under the Japanees masters.
